Sultan Azlan Shah has contributed significantly in nature and conservation of Belum-Temenggor Forest until the area was gazzeted as state park. Following to that at The Perak Domestic Tourism Exposition in 1992 an orchid was named after His Royal Highness i.e. "Doritinopsis Sultan Azlan Shah" after receiving the best plant award in its section an A new genus of insects Azlania Costatipennis (Jacoby) , Azlania apicalis Mohamedsaid and Azlania borneensis Mohamedsaid were found and named after His Royal Highness The Sultan, being the Patron of The Malaysia Nature Society - Belum Scientific Expedition 1993 - 1994.

The National University of Singapore topped the list of Asian countries, but the University of Malaya was placed at the 32nd spot. Other local universities in the top 100 include Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in the 56th place, Universiti Sains Malaysia (57), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (66) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (76).

Malaysian public universities last month were left out of the latest ranking of the annual Times Higher Education (THE) Top 100 Universities under 50 years old.

Four Asian universities were ranked among the top 10 of the world’s young universities, including South Korea's Pohang University of Science and Technology which took the top spot, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (3), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (4) and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (5).

According to a recent research that was conducted by JobStreet and published in April 2014, it showed that a majority of fresh graduates were struggling to make ends meet (approximately 77% who said that their salary does not leave them with any savings after spending on essentials such as car and study loans). The average pay across industries for fresh grads appear to be RM2,100 per month, but 60% of the respondents said that they have to ask for higher-than-average salaries of at least RM3,500 (30% even expected to be paid as high as RM6,500) in order to cope with the increased cost of living. We need to have a continuos monitoring on water quality especially for our drinking water. We need to have a standard methods for water quality measurement, accurate equiptments, well callibrated machine and high skills workers and good water processing plants. In case of water shortage we can use other sources of water. Water conservation is important. We must conserve and protect all water catchment areas for water resources and long term use.

Not many realised that gases from landfill sites is very toxic and hazardous to human health. Not just for children but adults and pregnant woman.

Govt eyes Unesco heritage listing for Belum-Temengor rainforest reserve: One way of protecting and conserving 130 million years old rainforest which is older than the Amazon jungle.
