Green campus: we must understand what is green campus and work towards is not just infrastructure but practices and all must involve and together practice and supporting green life style.

When VIPs like to cycle then many will follows. We want to make it as a habit, culture or life style NOT just a ceremonial., R2C recycle to cycle is a model of active life style and healthy life style. This contribute to green campus.

What ever happened to the economy of the country human resource development to provide professionals for developed country in 2020 and beyond cannot be ignored. It must be continue and enhance. Especially when Malaysia going to sign TPPA. Experience professionals must play roles in human resources development. Some cannot retire.

Not that easy to promote green and biodiversity protection and conservation. we need research, educating people and develop experts. Someone have to do it and leading others. If we keep doing it one day we will get it. Develop countries work hard develop experts, educating public, developed systems and regulations and spent a lot of money by government and public sectors.

Green concept is not easy to understand and practice. Changing habit and lifestyle another important things that we need to look at. Motivation and promotion is continuously need. Recognition and appreciation to those contribute to green campus is a must. BUT how far we do it.

The Impact of the Social Sciences: How Academics and Their Research Make a Difference? I wonder why social sciences researchers in Malaysia are complaining about the recognition and grants. I think they have more opportunities than the scientists.

we have cycle lane too in USJ Subang Jaya for my long years of one kilometre walk to school. In UPM I suggested to have good walking trail from mosque through chinese cimetry and passing small streams to lakes towards MARDI. If we vane good plan and trees since 2000, now already 15 years and surely we can see good landscapes.

Rapid development especially in the coastal areas will disturb migratory shorebirds flyway. We need to protect the flyways. we need to identify the flyways and bird stop over OR Important Bird Area (IBA).

Can we follow them?: We need knowledge, writing skills, time, people, recognition, readers, related facilities and .... academic culture.

We know that we are in front, thats whay we demand for promotion, salary and research grants. But the flags carrier dont look at the soldiers.

All must respond to this and get ready for better, Malaysia with low population must develop quality in all Malaysian individuals. a Special programme must be developed and quickly practice. No time for argument and say yes or know for this. For those who are weak and no confident will argue on this TPPA. Remain the retired knowledge, skill, experience and expert to handle this and prepare for 2020.

may be good for foreigners but tough for Malaysian. We need to plan from young age like what other developed countries do.

Examination is a ceremonial, true assessment, or just a challenge to show the best achievement in the semester. True teaching and learning assessment may be by showing individual assessment to the professors by helping day to day of professors work in searching for new knowledge. Passing the examination is probably not a true measurement tools in measuring knowledge gained during studies in the university.

We need to expose young students in field biology in order to encourage young graduates majoring in field biology or ecology. We need more trainers, money and creating new opportunities in extreme field biology. Malaysia as tom megabiodiversity country we deserve to have many field biology. We need money for this project and it must be recognised.

 

I have a dream to work on this subject after introduced by japanese scientists on biologing BUT time, money, complete opportunity and my own capacity I cannot join the group in Stanford. But we discussed a lot in Tokyo on many aspects of biologing and extreme field biology. We need young Malaysian to be involve this extreme research. Research culture need to be developed from young. The way we exposed to extreme field biology need to be change and started as early age as possible. We need a good strategic plan and clear mind set on this.

Bluefin: Japan’s favourite big fish, but for how long? Japanese scientists are very advance in marine science and fisheries, however they still worried about future tuna especially bluefin tuna. CAN Malaysia with CTI and other maritime areas support tuna fishing industries.

People said to me "now we dont have diansaurs but we still can survive, another is well every body will die and before they die they will sick" what the stupid primitive statement!

Pahang is a state where we have Taman Negara to protect and conserve our biodiversity. We still have a lot more to study. BUT at the same time we have many activities that destroy nature and disturbing our biodiversity. Among them hot issues on bauxite mining, lynas, sturgeon, aggressive sand mining, cameron highlands issues, chini, Raub Goldmine, Lentang landslides, and many more. Do we have rules and regulations to protect our environment? OR people in Pahang are not concern about nature and environment.

Now we realised that scientific evidence, monitoring and analytical laboratory are important. We need to have a special monitoring laboratory in Malaysia in order to monitor chemical pollution in the environment. Talking about bauxite in Kuantan, people are are talking about bauxite, heavy metals contamination and dust that can cause health hazards to human and biota. DOE must look at this.

Another footpath. About time all town planners think about pedestrian pathway. Not just for fast motor-vehicles. Especially near hotels and shopping areas or food stalls. Reset our mind set and general public concern. Promote walking in the town and provide more pathways for pedestrian.

if we want to do it we do it properly. Not just ceremonial and advertisement. conservation is long term research and commitment. Thanks to Sabah Government for Orangutan conservation programmes. We need committed leaders to plan for research and development.

Viva is not just presenting seminar. YES may be to cut short the presentation to 15 minutes BUT the mission must be clear. Many candidates missed the basic and fundamental knowledge and they are exited to present the findings without strong reasons and significant basic sciences. For PhD i think basic knowledge is important and need a lot of reading in three years.
