Another conflict of primates and human. Conservation, habitat protection, urbanisation and tourisms. More aggressive continuous actions are needed to support the primate conservation at Taman Melawati and Kuala selangor Nature Parks. Local public, tourists and local authorities must be educated in this subjects. Malaysian Nature society (MNS) must give a close monitoring and studies on primates in this area.

Meeting active Indonesian scientists and old friends in marine science at LIPI convention BOGOR Indonesia 16-18 May 2017

Another sharing information and exchange ideas on how to develop competitive research in Indonesia and Malaysia. Thank you LIPI for inviting me to the meeting.

Today is another alumni gathering. before we organised seminar alumni. after two/three series then stopped. I hope this alumni gathering will be an annual event.

Are we ready for the Fourth Industrial Revolution? Still quite in Malaysia. The Professors must thinking along with TN50 of government new visions.

May be our Taman Tugu will be like Kebun Raya Bogor OR may be better. All trees are marked and monitored regularly. We can imagine how many trees and how many experts are needed to maintain our Taman Tugu. We need to train and recruit from now. Not just on park management but on biology of the trees.

Need to bring back MASDEC into operation. Collaboration between Indonesia and Malaysia need to be strengthen and probably Singapore and Thailand too should join to look at the aspect of Biodiversity, Pollution. and coastal processes.

studies on fist in peat swamp is important since peat swamp is sensitive to water levels and development into plantation and residential.

Visitors for today. But not in Malaysia. Many from Europe. Why?

Talking on STEM and classroom modules. I am not an expert?? I have been teaching in the university for 30 years, observing failures from schools trained or advised by the experts (?). New students in the universities do not have strong basic in science. What the did in school? passing exams, collecting As or understanding science? After retired I will do my way to help them. I think I am strong enough tgo change because we have more than thousands graduated from the Department of Biology UPM. If I can get 100 good one we can change.

Where went wrong in environmental education in Malaysia? Curriculum or implementation?

We need to be serious in updating our biodiversity. As top megabiodiversity in the world Malaysia must be a reference country in biodiversity. Universities, ASM and MPN must play a role.

Water issues become a continuous attention of scientists and the water management authority. We need to have continuous enough supply of clean water and maintaining the sources of water. Water vision programme sponsored by Coca-cola and water for life sponsored by Petronas implemented by Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) is to educate public on the source of water and managing water through improving life style, saving water and using technology.

Yes we need more effective journalists to write on science in the news papers in order to make the information on science reach the public. We are not writing the information as an event but educating public on science and the important of science and technology in everyday life.

Below are the old story of Tapir in Peninsular Malaysia. With continuous forest clearing, fragmented forests, road crossing the forest where tapir lives, building and houses near the forest, the scenario might be different. all State Governments in Peninsular Malaysia must support the Tapir conservation Programme. States of Kedah, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan,. Johor and Kelantan should come forward in conserving wildlife in general.

Don't stop educating public on conservation. Look for chance either through media or direct activities. Public education and awareness on conservation and protecting biodiversity must be a continuing processes.

When we stress or sick we go to the hospital. Then what we do? see the doctor, the doctor examine and give advise what to do. Take medicine, manage your health or see the specialist. If we are serious they advice us to be admitted. SO the best way is to manage our health. Be creative at work, We must think of our work load and KPI.

this is another good activity for the local community. Many times I talk some where and writing in the news paper about the responsibity of the community on the local environment, conservation and biodiversity. If the local involve in recreation, education,research etc then the environment will be protected. BUT I hope these will be continue not LIKE normal say hangat-hangat taik ayam.

More need to be done for wildlife conservation. We need strong public support. Public do not know what is tapir, the biggest tapitr in the world that exist in our own country and they are facing extinction if we do not protect them. Thank you for Mid Valley Management for supporting this activity.

All professors must have their showcase to be referred by others. The universities must find ways to appreciate their achievement and support their showcases

Still unfinished in implementing ideas after Belgrade. A lot more to be explore in fundamental science especially in ecology.
