One study found that man-made marine debris may cause "physical harm" to humans when ingested via seafood. Another estimated that Europeans who eat shellfish could be exposed to11,000 pieces of micro-plastic each year.
What science hasn't proven yet is whether the plastic in the fish we eat directly damages our health. But it's getting there, and the case for real government concern is growing.

Malaysia must think of plastic pollution and the effect of plastic recycling after China stopped importing plastic from wold developed countries. May be with current situation where Malaysia also contributing to world plastic pollution and public awareness, Importing plastic and plastic recycling factories mus be stopped immediately before too late contaminating environment and caused health hazard to human and wildlife.

Additionally, China remains without fully developed waste management systems, the study concludes. An estimated 1.3-to-3.5 million metric tons enters the oceans from China’s coastline. Between 2010 and 2016, imported plastic waste to China added an additional 10 to 13 percent to the country’s domestic waste, increasing China’s difficulties in managing its garbage.
