Yes PhD is training stage. BUT in the training process must include all what PhD graduates should be in the future. NOT just doing experiments for data and producing thesis. PhD is developing high level of intellectual.

Many ways to educate public. University's students must take a lead in changing public mind set. Plastic pollution was highlighted in 2918. BUT how fat Malaysian concern about plastic pollution, usage and management. We need plastic and plastic make our life easy BUT at the same time plastic caused hazards to living things and ecosystems. Therefore we need to manage the plastic pollution effectively..

Malaysia still cannot bring together all states to have a uniform procedures and laws on nature including forest reserve and deforestation. Especially when EU pressure Malaysia on the palm oil..

Oil spills issues in Johor water near Singapore is not new. Over 30 years a go similar cases happened. We need more integrated monitoring on ships passing Malaysian water including yhose waithing for services in Singapore at international waters. We need to tighten local and international laws too.

One way of creating leaders is train them to think critically and ask questions. Our students now only like ti claps their hands and say yeahhh!!!!. About time we need to encourage students to speak and analyse facts and express it. I talk about express their interest and develop talents.

Many similar cases like this. stop-work after nature already destrupted or destroyed. We need to protect before trees were cut and land were cleared. Many cases finally we lost nature and biodiversity without leaving behind the history.

When we talk on conservation we need to understand the basic knowledge and reasons why we need conservation . Especially on fragmented forests, reserve forest, biodiversity and specific habitat or species.

On conservation issue we talk a lot. how far public is responding need to be assessed. More aggressive actions need to taken. In this case of milky stork we need to highlight their habitat quality, Kuala Gula as Ramsar Site and public awareness.

My Inaugural Lecture was on the Earth Day in 2011. Since then I gave talk on the environment and biodiversity issues. How far public (at least the academic community) recognised it still can be questioned. We need to have many professors talking about the same things to attract the attention of public including the politician.

Sungai Buloh is one of the important cockles farming and birding areas in Selangor. Beside cocckles production this area attract a lort of tourists which encouraging economic development in the area. Unfortunately no cooperation within agencies especially to keep Sugnai Bulof clean.

We need public support in conserving tiger. They are under threat by active poaching, deforestation and human conflicts. We need to more from education, monitoring and law enforcement. We need money. So we suggesting to public to have funds by donation to the programme Tabung Pemuliharaan Harimau (Tiger Conservation Fund).

Love Minyak Sawit campaign is not enough if we are not tackling the right issues brought up by European Union (EU). The main issues are related to deforestation. MNS is the one of NGOs that actively involve in education and campaign for nature conservation and no further deforestation.
