Wildlife crime is a big business. Run by dangerous international networks, wildlife and animal parts are trafficked much like illegal drugs and arms. By its very nature, it is almost impossible to obtain reliable figures for the value of illegal wildlife trade. Experts at TRAFFIC, the wildlife trade monitoring network, estimate that it runs into hundreds of millions of dollars.

If wildlife traficking is an important business, it will be very difficult to stop. Simple economic theory, supply and demand. We create supply and demand. Wildlife business people are creative and proactive in this fields. The will create and support the conservation of important species, protect their habitat, then establish laws and inforcement, education, awareness, conservation, research and habitat protection. All for them to maintain demand and supply. Creating difficulties in trafficking, and reduction in supply will develop more demand and bringging prices high. Demand based on maintaining old culture, creating rich culture and promoting traditional medicine. All these are real challenge for wlidlife researchers either truly for conservation or suppporting wildlife demand of usage and trafficking, OR some called Wildlife Crime.
