ONE THING SIGNIFICANT MNS DOING IS SAHABAT RAJA RIMBA IN MERAPOH AS LOCAL COMMUNITY TO SUPPORT TIGER CONSERVATION.

WH0 CARES? MANY YEARS AGO I PUSHING IDEAS TO SOLVE LOCAL AND TRANS-BOUNDARY HAZE. MANY ARE TOO CLEVER UNTIL NOW WE STILL HAVE IT. AS THE PRESIDENT OF MALAYSIAN NATURE SOCIETY (MNS) I FELT VERY SAD FOR THE LOST OF BIODIVERSITY ESPECIALLY UNKNOWN SPECIES AND ENDANGERED SPECIES LIKE ORANG UTAN.

I proposed this series of Tapir Talk will be the MNS brand and continue for ever sharing knowledge between experts and the public. MNS should continuously educate public. Through research we share the findings. I hope media can highlight the topics or issues discussed.

Both Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye and Maya Karim are talking about unsung heroes.Thats why they are supporting me for my hard work that benefit all but not many appreciate it. People still throw rubbish every where, worst thing they throw plastics and contaminating ocean and killing marine life and later will affect human being. People pushing for forest degradation and poaching wildlife. Only few supporting my efford. these two heroes come forward supporting me the unsung hero (they said).

We need more volunteers to support nature conservation. We need more talent in creativiti and innovation in nature conservation and environmental issues. Thank you for the Star and Gamuda Foundation to search for unsung heroes in nature and environment activities. We must make our living style green.

We have technologies, knowledge, experts, money and will. Why we do not do it and wait for another episode and then we talk again on the same thing and same tone. This time we must react rightly and no more story on haze next year. Put in our calendar when we need to take actions and monitor it. Corporate sectors among planters must take action. Please refer to the local experts to solve the problems. Officers in the companies must know how to make right decision. We cdo not want they are writing an essay again next year when they want to answer the problems to the public their bosses and the politician. We must live in the real world!!!!

How many of us are thinking everyday when we use toilet or bath room. Where water and waste flush from our toilet bowl? all need to be treated and will be very costly. We need to look carefully the best way of domestic waste pollution (water and solid).

Air pollution is not new. Why we do not try to stop air pollution. Business people are greedy to make more money, poor people need jobs, food and money to survive and enjoy life. About time we need to consider nature and conservation of biodiversity. Haze in Malaysia and Indonesia need world's attention. We cannot wait until all forest are burned and no more unique flora and fauna disappeared/ .

We see Planet II. Very impressive and attracted world at all levels. For scientists is not new but newly highlighted because of whole world worried about plastic pollution and killing marine life. Even though world wide responding to Planet II, the British scientists still flying to all over the world promoting Planet II. In Malaysia we have one video clip on the local made ending plastic BUT no body promoting it or even watch it or sharing with others. We do not have to go deep in the jungle to celebrate nature festival. We can do it in the city. Thank you to MNS N9/Melaka and Royal Chulan Seremban for collaborating in organising the event. Thank you to EXCO and state government of Negeri Sembilan for the support. By doing this we can expose more urban society on nature and conservation.

Officiating Hornbill Festival in Belum with hope that Belum Temenggong Forest Complex will be protected for wildlife habitat and natural heritage. Orang Asli need to be educated and transformed. We need more volunteers.

Orang Asli cannot be separated if we are promoting conservation of wildlife. They know the forest better. We need to educate them and support them so that they do not over harvesting and together protecting wild life. Sahabat Engang or friends of hornbills is one of the creative way to get support from Orang Asli to conserve hornbills in Belum Temenggor. We can see 10 species of hornbills in Belum Temenggor. We need to protect them from poaching and habitat disruption. Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) formed Sahabat Enggang . after Sahabat Beruang, Sahabat raja Rimba and sahabat Hutan Bakau . All are to support MNS in protecting, conserve and managing wildlife.

Haze is an international issues because of its directly related to climate change and global warming, lost of biodiversity and air pollution. An international law on transboundary pollutioin must be created in order neighbouring countries can help each other in controlling haze and transboundary air and marine pollution (oil spills, chemical dumping and plastic debris). UN may be need to interfere for better laws and regulation. ..

Already more than two years I am talking about solid waste and plastic pollution. If government is serious about it we must involve all ministries related to solid waste, pollution and environment. Officers in charge especially the seniors must be well educated. To be educated do not have to go back toi schools or visit all over the world. Now knowledge is at the finger tips. Just develop thinking skills and refer to the experts. Throw away egos and territorial attitude. Must be integrated, collaborated and cross ministries.

How many people are really interested to know about aour nature especially our animals. We just lost our rhino, soon may be tiger, seladang, tapir, sun bear and elephants. How many unique insects we already lost we do not know.. i think we should stop arguing and showing our ego. Within our capacity now we must do it now at least small scale national history museum. Just do it in Putrajaya or at Taman Tugu Kuala Lumpur.

Climate change is an international issue. Why we don't have many experts in Malaysia. As a tropical country, high biodiversity and still large protected forests we need to be more proactive in climate change related studies. Climate change not just geography but all sciences and socio-economy.

If Ahmad Ismail promoting wildlife conservation, over 30 years in the university, 10 years through the oldest nature based 80 years old society MNS (Malaysian Nature Society) and active research and many publications, the impact is still low. BUT with few appearances with Maya Karim an actress the impact is different. Is it because of truly for conservation or just for maya karim. What ever it is ahmad ismail as a professor in wildlife ecology will never stop promoting wildlife protection and conservation. of course with maya karim more people know me and listen to my talk on conservation.

We know wild boar can swim from Sumatera to Malay Peninsular. This event of elephant swimming in Johor is another lesson need to be learned. Elephant a strong swimmer.

Old story, no solution. Any technology can help turtle dying because of fishing nets. Especially in over harvesting pf fishes through too many boat and nets are using in fishing activities.

Fundamental Science Congress (FSC) was started as a platform foe Faculty of Science UPM to report their research findings and activities to be assessed by the faculty and bring forward to higher levels. Development of science technology always started from basic sciences. I hope the platform that already established can be inherited by the young leaders to bring research findings in Faculty of Science UPM to the high levels. All scientists must have high imagination on future sciences base on what they have now. For example what are unsolved problems that can they can contribute through their basic sciences research and innovation.

If Malaysian recognised Malaysia as top megabiodiversity country in the world, Malaysian should demand for high penalty to those killing, caused problems and smuggling wildlife. All reserve forests need to be protected as wildlife habitat. More grants needed to increase research and number of experts in wildlife.

Public must give their opinion on the issue of penalty for illegal plastic operators. Public have the say because the overall effect will be on the public in term of health and environmental related issues.. The government must consider all chain effects and the public must be educated.

More scientists and researchers should come forward to support all kind of studies on orang asli especially on this community Che Wong. in Kuala Gandah. KualaGandah is one of important tourist spots in Malaysia. How Che Wong community can support and developd their community.

Environmental Education programme is a continuous activities. This picture below is on out trip to Sarawak sponsored by TM. We need more corporate sectors supporting this long term project.

When I go to this place Wang Kelian, many Malaysian are looking at products from Thailand and Myanmar like stones etc. I will see in case we can see Berok Kentoi, Macaca arctoides. the stump tailed macaque that only can be seen in the area. Not enough information on biology and ecology of this monkey.

Very bad until i retired I failed to convince Malaysian Professors and scientific leader to do as Taiwan Professors motivating the Taiwanese young scientists. Many of our professors and scientific leaders are too clever. Our S&T policy still hanging and now close to 2929.

5 years a go we did it in 5 regions in Malaysia educating youth on earth and environmental issues.

Through tm-mns earth camp we teach students knowledge on environment and nature then followup by community services telling others on nature, conservation and leep environment clean and practice recycle, reduce and reuse

WE need more volunteers to support Save Tiger Campaign. Tiger population now at very critical stage, less than 200, habitat shrinking and active poaching. We need police and army to support fighting poachers and illegal traps. We need technologies too to fight poachers. Federal and states must work together and CFS Central Forest Spines must be given attention now.

Even though we are Independent for 62 years we still have to push hard for better protection of our nature. Kuala Selangor is moving towards Ramsar Site. May be better for Kuala Selangor to be Ramsar Site since the area is well manage by MNS Malaysian Nature Society. Both State and Federal Government s must support this move. Selangor claimed as developed state, must have one Ramsar Site and its nature are well protected.

Understanding on nature is very important. Please learn from the experts. Inconjuction with Merdeka Day or Independent Day and New Year of Islamic Calendar (Maal Hijrah 1441), we have to look seriously on the ratio of protected area and developed areas. We still need clean areas for our oxygen, and other gases equilibrium such as Carbon dioxide, nitrogen and other.

How far we are independent in term of protecting, conserving and managing our protected area and understanding science of our nature such as Taman Negara.

Understanding Independent Day (MERDEKA), harmony in life, clean environment and protecting nature our natural heritage. Don't let greedy business man looking for power through their money buying our integrity BUT come support nature protection, conservation and management for the sustainability
