Everybody must support this seminar. Ulu Muda is very important for water supply in Kedah, Penang and Perlis. Water from Ulu Muda support important products such as rice from MADA, semiconductor industry in Penang, Tourism in Penang and Langkawi and healthy life of human population in the northern Malays peninsular.. Therefore Ulu Muda must be protected, managed and managed, Public education must be done quickly to reduce all conflicts on Ulu Muda. Ulu Muda must be protected and gazetted as State Park.
More than 50 years we are talking about green house effects, Ozone layer, Green house gaseous, increase of urban temperatures, global warming and recently we are repeating again on Climate Change. Rio summit and Paris agreement highlighted the climate change. Surely we have technology and ways to solve the climate change. We must be honours in the issues. Public must get good knowledge in climate change to pressure the authorities. Basic principle may be reduce carbon emmision and burning of the fossil fuels. Think about it.

As Malaysia is top 12 Megabiodiversity in the world we need government support in recognising MNS involvement and private sectors in financial support.

Both General Secretary of MESTECC and KSN mentioned about MNS in their speech and talking about single use plastic, changing life style, function of woman, habit need to be checked. Using brown bags such as in developed countries. Managing plastic pollution is very important because in order to keep environment especially marine environment free from plastic. We need to promote more 3R habit and understand about plastic pollution.
Asian Water Birds Censors is one of the important activities involving all asian countries. We are collaborating in monitoring and counting birds. In order to have an effective way of monitoring and counting birds MNS carried out series of training to members all over the country. Through our active experts and long years experience MNS members in birding will train new participants in bird survey. IBA need to be assessed to know their status. sometimes the areas need to be maintain to support birds populations.

We develop the contact, the foreign scientists trust us and like to collaborate with us BUT we do not have enough strength to follow up. I was very lucky to have the opportunity to visit their laboratories and then bring them here in my laboratory. I have long term planning so that the younger scientists can follow. I can see now the trend of lecturers in Malaysia is different compared to when I was young lecturer.

Budget 2020 this time allocated some money for biodiversity and conservation. We need to manage the money wisely in order to achieve the objectives. May be small money if we want to tackle all aspects of biodiversity and conservation. With strong commitment, integrated approach and good governance probably we can do it.
