Many still dont practice how to manage plastic. We talked about plastic pollution since 2018. No single use plastic and managing plastic pollution, separating at home, recycling etc. BUT during Covid-19 we can see many face masks were thrown every where. Face masks can cause dander to wildlife and aquatic animals.
SCIENCE EDUCATION have discussed for long time and until today we still cannot achieve the target 60:40 (science:sastera) moving forward to develop country we need more scientists especially Malaysia is one of the top biodiversity country in the world need more scientists. Policies and rules and regulations sometimes are not enough. just ceremonial. we need more active enforcement and public engagement. Aggressive education formal and informal are needed. NGO like Malaysian Nature Society can do it. Please support.
I think since independent we are talking about Bahasa Melayu, We have structures, people and power. Why we are still talking about it. I think we are at the wrong path. we should develop our systems, structures, peoples and mission instead of bothering others who are working hard towards their clear vision and mission.
Continuous engagement with top management and policy makers is very important in order to make sure they are following what happening on the ground. Sometimes the vice chancellors do not have enough time to discuss everything about lecturers. At the same time all lecturers also must discuss about what they can do to support university's directions and country's mission. Lecturers work load must be look at.
As a professor in the university, teaching is not limited in the lecture theater and laboratories BUT must reach the public. Not that easy to change the public habit, lifestyle and believe. We need to do research and prove that to them through aggressive teaching process. New media can be used for effective agent in changing public perception on environment.
not all stars are well recognised by the history. The historian must search for the true leaders and significant contributors to the independent of our country. I environmental issues for example, who are true leaders? those wo are bringing files to the meeting or those who are on the ground fighting for conservation and solution of problems.

I remember this Forum. I was one of the panels representing Academic Staff Association UPM. I remember I said What is the name. What important is the content. How to make UPM progress well is about people and the systems. If the people in UPM know the vision and work hard following the systems set, I think UPM can progress well as planned. Good leaders needed to make people move along the systems. So far I think UPM on the right tract. To boost further we need good driver.
After retired no more special event like this. If join this kind of event just as public participants or if lucky as warga emas. When we are entertained like a king where we are not a king, holding position and many people want some thing from us just remember is it just temporary. If we continue to have people managing people may be still ok. They will remember us and probably respect us. If they are robot or robot like human, forget it no body will remember us. So when we are important and in power just do a proper job.
I think this is the best trip under Coca-cola/MNS water vision programmes. Participants are exposed to the nature and how forest is important to conserve water. May be wedid not realise that frest waer onloy 2% 0f totatl water on earth. The rest are salt water. We are depending on fresh water and the fresh water is in the forest. Therefore we must save all the forest which serve as water catchment areas.

We need to restore all mangrove areas along the coastlines. Need more mangrove planting to promote coastal marine life, protect coastal zones and filtering pollutants to the sea. Education, research and public awareness on mangrove ecosystems is very urgent.

Nearly 6 months experiencing Covic-19 in Malaysia, we still cannot cope with the problems. This is about life and death. All agencies must work together in all aspects from education to enforcement of laws, research to health cares and policies to public response. All must understand about Covid-19 and together controlling it..
recycle to cycle programme is a very good programme but unfortunately not many people are interested. current generation of students are not interested. We are to comfort living in Malaysia and all our problems are taken care by the government. About time malaysian should change to better lifestyle. Covid-19 may be can help to change human life style on managing solid waste pollution especially plastics.
