With new technologies, and sciences we are in different culture and challenge. Before every festive seasons we have problems in getting buses and train to go home. Now technologies is better and status of economy is better, our life styles too change. What ever it is we need scientific thinking society.
Not that easy to convince the politician and the administrators why we need to protect and conserve reserve forest especially the forest is important for water supply. After they convince if they are till at position may be they can apply what they understand. BUT is they are retired ot changed position we have to convince the new government. That is relly challenging for NGO who are fighting for forests protection and biodiversity conservation. What ever it is the fighting has to goon. ULU MUDA for example must be protected. BUT no one can work alone. We must work together for the benefit of the country now and the future..
Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) continuously concern about nature protection and conservation for continuous good ecosystem services. When we are talking about climate change, carbon stock, wildlife conservation, top mega biodiversity country...... we must conserve our nature. What we have and others do not have we must protect.
70% of our planet earth is ocean. Why we have more ocean than land area. why we only have small percentage of fresh water compared to saline water. Need more aggressive research to understand this nature. Yes a lot of opportunities in business in the ocean. More research needed to understand about ocean and for the sustainability of our planet.
We cannot wait for 27 April every year to talk about Tapir Conservation. Everyday tapir is under threat. Shrinking of their habitat because of deforestation and poor knowledge on tapir conservation or no interest in wildlife conservation put more pressure on tapir population. Tapir might out of their normal home range and enter human settlement and crossing road. We have many incidents of road kill. Tapir death on the road becoming hot issue and need to be solved immediately. Public awareness important to save tapir.
Conserving Ulu Muda Forest Reserve is very important to Malaysia. Not just fo Kedah. All Malaysian must support this initiative to protect and conserve ULU MUDA. Water for Ulu Muda support 40% of Malaysian rice, semiconductor industries in Penang, Shipping activities, Tourism and others including domestic uses in the northen states of Peninsular Malaysia. So all Malaysian must support ULU MUDA as State Park.
26 July is International Day for Mangrove Conservation. As we know mangrove ecosystem is very important in protecting coastal areas from erosion, filtering fresh water into the sea, nursery ground for marine life, carbon stoct and climate change. Picture below was taken in Perlis. It is urgent to replant mangrove along Perlis coastline to protect erosion and improve fisheries activities.
