Another collaboration and future mou between Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) Bangkok on scientists exchange, resrachi collaboration on medaka fishes
Prof Wichian is an expert in medaka fishes and always refered by the worlds experts. We are very lucky to recieve his visit to Biology Department. Eventhough this laboratory in Biology Department is small and not proper, but this is the only laboratory in the world keeping two specific and unique species of medaka. How far UPM value this. Unfortunately they are still blurr. How can we say they are the expert panels to assess fundamental science research in Malaysia. No wonder we are behind in science compared to the world class university as admitted by the prime minister in his education blueprint launching to day. We are relying on actors and actress scientists.

Today we have the first national assessment for the primary school, UPSR. Too much exam oriented, bording school mentality, klusterism andacademic assessment results oriented. the children already separated from the begining according to their yearly examination, pampered the good students and lost hope for the poor students. Is this another cruelty for human kind? or we will lost a lot of talent from early age.
lower cast with worries will lower down the schools achievement
good cast in separate examination hall and pampered with full hope for schools ranking

Politician made a lot of statements on the improvement of education system in Malaysia and preparing for developed country in 2020. How far the administrators, managers, teachers and leaders are listening and taking actions. OR just a ceremonial and singing like a singers. What changes may be the salary scheme, allowances, promotion, but no teachers attending courses to improve teaching, translating the curriculum and subject matters.

Education blueprint: Master languages, especially English, says PM
A conflict of ideas and principles: University to produce intellect or businessman? Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Related Minister must understand the function of the university and the direction of the country. In develop country do we need entrepreneur or managers, professionals, scientists, high skills personel......or just pasar malam operators?

KPI for all vice chancellors to begin immediately
By EMBUN MAJID
SINTOK: Vice chancellors at all public universities in the country will be evaluated based on a Key Performance Index (KPI) introduced by the Higher Learning Institution, with immediate effect.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said Tuesday the KPI was based on the ability of each vice-chancellor to ensure the success of entrepreneurship education programmes for their students as part of an effort to produce better quality graduates.
“We have discussed the matter and are now going to implement it. We have agreed that the entrepreneurship programme must be implemented in all courses offered at a university and the vice-chancellor of the university must be responsible for its success,” he said.
Mohamed Khaled said this during a press conference after officiating the three new academic blocks of the School of Multimedia, Technology and Communication, School of Quantitative Science and School of Technology Management and Logistics at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) here.
Also attending the function was UUM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak.
Mohamad Khaled said the entrepreneurship programme was aimed at helping students survive after they graduated from a university, especially if they chose to start their own businesses
