It is about time Malaysian supporting electronic waste recycling and properly dispose te waste. E-waste is very toxic and hazardous to human and other living things. Government already have guidelines how to dispose electrical and electronic equiptments (EEE).in Malaysia. How far the public know and aware about this we need to find out and make more publicity about it. Rapid increase of EEE, disposal methods and rules and regulation must be in place.

We want more professors involve in public services for education in science and contrubuting their expertise to the nation NOT just writing papers which limited to small elite group.

I hope we do not see this situation in Pedu Lake Forest Reserve areas. Forest fire, Illegal encroachment and low water level in the dam. We need to protect our water catchment areas. This is every body responsibility. Say your words.

The picture below was taken three years a go in Gubir Kedah where logs were suspected from Pedu area. The area suppose to be protected for water catchment area and wildlife conservation. Water sources from this reserve forest supporting irrigation systems for paddy fields and water for Kedah, Penang, Perlis and Langkawi. We need to think hard on this forest protection and conservation and continuous logging activities.

We need to participate at all levels of structures in the government departments, government agencies, private sectors, NGOs and general public in order to succeed in our mission. In this case the management of municipal solid waste. There are a lot of conflicts between the policies, politic, business, administration, greedy attitude, competition, implementation and many more. some times we forget the core business is to have zero waste and keep our environment clean and safe.

about time we need to have a proper rules and guidelines on the e-waste in the landfill sites. We need to have a proper regulation and control on how to dispose electronic waste because it contain highly toxic materials that can cause hazard to human health. We need to limit or control the authorised personal only to handle the e-waste.

longtime ago when I talked on the ecology of elephant dung, peoples are loughing at me and asked me to talk on different topic that is more interesting and benefit human being. This basic thinking is very important for the people and society. The ecologists usually look at bigger perspective for life, from individual to the ecosystem that they are living in.

Ecology of elephants dung: fibre, seed dispersal, insect, decomposition, bacteria, etc important to forest floor ecology.
