Sometimes we cannot give reasons why people like to keep animals and demand for smugling and poaching. I remember 25 years a go I introduced wildlife ecology course and I told my students that this is one of demand course for developed country when world is concern about wildlife conservation, deforestration and climate change. In the future wildlife and nature become an interest of rich people. After 25 years this idea is still primitive in Malaysia. We need to work harder.

Indonesia seizes 700 endangered turtles

Indonesian authorities have seized nearly 700 endangered pig-nosed turtles at the main airport serving the capital Jakarta, an official said Monday. Pig-nosed turtles are listed under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, which imposes international trade restrictions to protect species from over-exploitation.
