The “International Conferences on Marine Pollution and Ecotoxicology” has 20 years of history and has been held in 1995, 1998, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2013, making this Conference series as a signature event in the international arena of marine pollution research. Building on this success, the 8th International Conference on Marine Pollution and Ecotoxicology (ICMPE-8) will be held from 20 to 24 June 2016 at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). It is jointly organized by the School of Biological Sciences, HKU and the State Key Laboratory in Marine Pollution. The ICMPE-8 Conference aims to provide a forum for experts all over the world to meet and discuss their frontier research, as well as the latest scientific and technological advancements in this important field. The Conference also aims to advance the participants' understanding of local, regional and global marine pollution problems and their solutions, with the hope that such problems may be more easily solved in the future.

Perhaps we need to brand one conference series in our field to be organised in Malaysia. So that top scientists in the world are looking forward to come to Malaysia in every two or three years. I did few already such as International Trace Metals Conference in Aquatic Environment, Symposium on Oryzias fishes, and few conferences on biodiversity. May be in i-simbiomas we can have a special workshop on issues on biodiversity. BUT who will listen? So starting from 2016 on the 8th November I will organise a special workshop on Biodiversity Issues. This title will be branded for yearly event on the 8th of November. There will be a permanent working committee for the event.
