Public awareness on land clearing is very poor. In fact big flood also still ok because the government will support them. malaysia is very peace country.. BUT those educated and aware of the disasters after land clearing will support highlands protection and conservation.

EORGE TOWN: Around 100 hectares of land on hills at Relau, Paya Terubong and Bukit Kukus have been cleared to date, the Penang State Hill Land Working Committee has established.
Committee chairman Datuk Farizan Darus said the majority of the land, or some 90ha of land cleared, were at Relau and Paya Terubong.
“The committee was informed that the 14ha land cleared on Bukit Kukus involved the state government’s development of a five-kilometre paired road connecting to Jalan Paya Terubong.
“The construction on Lot 2494 is scheduled to be completed by 2019,” he said.
Farizan, who is also the state secretary, said the committee, which had its first meeting this morning, had formulated an integrated approach involving various agencies to tackle hill-side clearing issues.
