What I told young scientist about future scientists or leaders in Malaysia.

1. Young scientists were trained to understand concepts and ideas and later they can develop more ideas..
2. Young scientists were trained to follow procedures, reporting observation, analyse data, presenting results and making conclusion & recommendation.
3. Young scientists were trained to lead not just a follower. Good follower can be a good leader. By following procedures you can be good leader, you know how to lead and your have guidance to lead.
4. Basic sciences are very important. All applied sciences need basic sciences. Therefore basic sciences need to be lead by good people. Good students should majoring in basic sciences rather the applied sciences. Malaysia must start to change mind set and recognise basic sciences more applied sciences in order to be a developed country. More jobs in basic research, better pay and promotion for scientists and respected by the society. Beside that Malaysia must put the right scientists at the right position of leadership.
5. How to be excellence in your career? You must be extreme or above the others in your field. For example good scientists must be recognised by international top scientists in his/her field, accepted by peer scientists and have followers among the young scientists, where they like to learn from you. At this level then you are success. Peak of your career can be seen by assessing the impact to the society.
6. Keep working hard and gain knowledge and skills. write, speak and contribute your knowledge to public. Employer will look for you.
