Save Langat South Forest Campaign
For more information please visit: http://www.forestry.gov.my/selangor/
Description:Langat South is a peat-swamp forest next to KLIA airport in Malaysia.
The forest is under threat from vegetable farmers and oil palm plantations companies.
In 1927, an area of 12,141 hectares were declared to be a forest reserve but illegal logging and burning has cut the forest back to around 5000 ha today.
May be we cannot see these trees anymore in the future. This forest is among few left in Selangor. Is we do not save it now, we will lost it forever. Future generation will blame us forever. Join MNS, WWF and others to save this forest. Last year, end of 2009 I was at Mangrove forest in Pulau Kalumpang Matang Forest Reserve. This year, end of 2010 I visited Kuala Langat South Forest Reserve to support conservation campaign. This is what happening now. This pictures were taken on 29 December 2010 at about 5.00 p.m.
